Risks
We'd rather you read this page than find out the hard way.
Money risks
- You can lose what you bet. Fences are zero-sum: winners are paid by losers.
- Harvest is not guaranteed. The Harvest pool pays out what it holds. A week can be small; an animal that wasn't fed gets nothing that week.
- Bulls, bears and $SRANCH have no guaranteed price. The ranch never values them and there may be no buyer when you want to sell.
- Token prices can swing hard, especially right after launch.
Price risks
- Feeds can lag. A Chainlink feed updates on a 0.5% move or every 24 hours, so the price a fence settles on can be a few hours old and differ slightly from the live price. The ranch's price feed is final.
- Halts and splits. If the feed is paused, stale, or a stock splits during a fence, the fence is voided and refunded, not settled.
- Thin overnight data. Overnight and Monday's-open prices come from thinner markets; each fence has a cap while things settle in.
Chain and contract risks
- Single sequencer. Robinhood Chain runs one sequencer. If it stops, nobody can bet or settle; stale prices lead to a void and refund after the grace period.
- Smart-contract bugs. The contracts are tested and self-audited, but code can still have bugs. Contracts that hold money can't be upgraded, which also means a bug can't be patched in place.
- Pons dependency. Token trading fees depend on the Pons platform. See what you have to trust.
- The breed registry multisig can register next season's list with 4 weeks' notice. See the one permission.
Legal
- Stock Ranch is a game. It is not available in the US, Canada, the UK, Switzerland or the UAE. Don't use a VPN to get around this.
- Rules about games of chance differ by country. It's on you to know yours.
- Nothing here is financial advice.
What we do about it
Exits never pause, voids always refund in full, splits and rates can't change mid-season, and you can set your own limits that even you can't undo early.
